New to Germany? Why the Right Insurance Coverage Matters for Expats

Expats Welcome to Germany

Welcome to Germany! The German insurance system is considered one of the best, but also one of the most complicated in the world. Learn why, especially as an Expat, you need a neutral expert who speaks your language.

Arriving in the German Insurance System

Those relocating to Germany are quickly confronted with terms like "Haftpflicht", "BU" or "PKV vs. GKV". What might have been regulated via the state or the employer in your home country is often your own responsibility in Germany. A mistake in choosing health insurance or neglecting private liability can become extremely expensive here.

Why neutral advice is important for you

Many Expats end up with large insurance agents or banks that only sell their own products. The problem: these tariffs are often not designed for the specific needs of international professionals. As a neutral insurance broker, I have access to a broad market comparison and find the plans that are flexible enough for your life.

Expertise in English

Insurance terms are hard to understand even in German. That's why I offer my consultation in German and English. For other languages like Russian or Turkish, I can rely on translators or use AI tools to assist us. We discuss the details so that you really understand what you are signing. Also, visit my special English Section for more information.

Legally on your side

As an insurance broker, I am your legal fiduciary representative. This means I am legally obligated to stand on your side, not the insurance company's. I am liable for my advice and compare a broad selection of the market for you.

Important topics for Expats:

  • Health Insurance: Private or Public? What fits your income and your plans? If you come on a Blue Card, work visa or training visa, see Health Insurance with an EU Blue Card, Opportunity Card or Work Visa.
  • Liability (Haftpflicht): Absolutely indispensable in Germany, even though it is not mandatory. Why, and what landlords ask for, is explained in Do I need liability insurance in Germany?
  • Occupational Disability: Secure your income in the country where you are working now.
  • Rent deposit (Mietkaution): If you don't have three months' rent for the deposit right after arriving, rent deposit insurance can replace the cash deposit, provided your landlord agrees.

Arrive Safely

Focus on your new job and your new life in Germany. I'll take care of making sure your insurance coverage fits together without gaps and legally secure. Transparent, digital, and without language barriers.
